Why we started Fast Car Service

We established Fast Car Service in 2026 as a Gosport fast fit centre with a simple idea: smaller vehicle jobs should be easier to fit into everyday life. An oil change, worn brake pads, a tired battery or a failed bulb can all need attention without your car needing a long list of other work. We wanted to create a place where you could arrange the job you needed, understand the cost and get back to your day.

That matters because a car is usually part of a routine. It gets you to work, takes the children to school, carries the shopping or helps you reach someone who needs you. Even a small maintenance job can mean rearranging lifts and appointments. Our aim is to make that visit as straightforward as we can.

The gap we wanted to bridge was between needing a focused job and being able to get it done promptly. Fast Car Service grew from that purpose. We work from Unit 31 at Gosport Basepoint Centre, with an emphasis on practical maintenance, clear conversations and a quick turnaround where the job and availability allow.

We also offer vehicle diagnostics for problems that need a clearer starting point. Whether you already know the part that needs replacing or need help understanding a warning, the first step is to tell us about the car and what has happened.

A small team with a clear purpose

We are a team of two, and Fast Car Service is part of the SteelMarch Group. We have kept the purpose of this business simple: useful work on your vehicle, explained in ordinary language, at our Gosport workshop. The name reflects the service we want to provide, with preparation helping us make good use of your time.

Being a small team keeps us close to the work and the arrangements around it. We want to understand what you are asking for, explain what we can take on and give you a clear idea of the next step. You should feel comfortable asking a basic question, especially if you are unfamiliar with the parts or the wording on a report.

You do not need to arrive knowing everything about your car. Your registration and a straightforward description are a useful beginning. If you have an invoice, a service reminder or a written recommendation, those can help us understand what you need.

A good relationship starts with feeling able to speak openly. If you are worried about the cost, have limited time or are unsure what another garage has recommended, tell us. Those details help us have a useful conversation. You should leave with a clearer understanding of the work you have arranged.

What fast turnaround means to us

For suitable smaller jobs, we aim to have your vehicle ready the same day, subject to parts and workshop availability. That depends on a suitable slot, the correct parts being available and the work fitting the vehicle. We will discuss those things with you before making an arrangement.

You might, for example, phone on a Monday morning about a suitable small job and be able to collect your car by lunchtime. That is the sort of useful turnaround we want to make possible. We will confirm the collection time with you once we know the job, the parts needed and the available slot.

A quick visit starts before the vehicle arrives. Your registration helps establish which parts are needed, while a clear description helps us plan the work. If you need to collect by a particular time, tell us when you call. It is much better to agree a realistic plan than to leave you making arrangements around an assumed finish time.

We also want you to understand if the plan changes. A different finding or an unavailable part can affect the next step. The aim is a prompt, organised job with the right work agreed, and enough information for you to plan the rest of your day.

Need a small job arranged? Call with your registration, the work you need and your preferred day. We will discuss suitability, parts, price and availability.

The everyday jobs we look after

Our maintenance work covers five familiar jobs: oil and filter changes, brake pads and discs, suitable low-voltage batteries, windscreen wipers and replaceable bulbs. Alongside those jobs, we offer vehicle diagnostics. You can find the details on our services page, or tell us what you need by phone.

With an oil and filter change, the starting point is the oil and filter suitable for your engine. For brake replacement, we discuss the pads or discs that need attention and the work recommended for your vehicle. If you have a report from another workshop, bring the details into the conversation.

Our battery replacement work concerns suitable low-voltage vehicle batteries. Different cars can need different battery types, so your registration matters here too. With wiper replacement and bulb replacement, tell us which blade or light needs attention so we can check the right fit and whether the job is suitable.

These jobs may be small compared with a major repair, but they matter to everyday use. We want to make arranging them easy, without turning a straightforward request into a confusing conversation about work you did not ask for.

When the cause of a problem is unclear

Sometimes the useful first step is finding out more about the problem. A warning on the dashboard or a change in how the car behaves does not always tell you which part needs replacing. Our vehicle diagnostics service can help establish what is behind the concern and what the next step should be.

Describe what happened in your own words when you call. Tell us whether the problem is constant or comes and goes, when you first noticed it and the exact message if one appeared. We will confirm whether we can take on the diagnostic work for your vehicle and the issue you have described.

Diagnostics and a repair are different stages. Finding information about a fault does not automatically mean the repair can be completed during the same visit. We will discuss the findings and proposed next step, including the work, parts and arrangements needed. If a warning or fault makes driving unsafe, get appropriate assistance before making the journey.

Start with a call and your registration

Calling ahead gives us a chance to organise the visit properly. Have your registration ready, tell us the job or problem, and let us know when you would like to come in. For an oil change, the mileage and any service information you have are useful. For a fault, the symptoms are a better starting point than guessing a replacement part.

If you have more than one job in mind, mention them together. You might need an oil change and new wiper blades, or have a bulb to replace while arranging brake work. We can talk through whether those jobs fit the same visit and give you a clear idea of the proposed work.

Our guide to preparing for a workshop visit has a few useful reminders. You can also email hello@fastcarservice.co.uk. For a time-sensitive arrangement, a phone call is the best way to start the conversation about current availability.

Know what you are agreeing to

A clear quote should tell you what work it covers. Parts, quantities and access can vary between cars, so we discuss the price against your vehicle and the proposed job. If you are comparing quotes, make sure you are comparing the same work as well as the total.

Ask if anything is unclear. Does the brake recommendation cover pads, discs or both? Which wiper blades are being replaced? Is the starting point diagnostic work, with a repair to be discussed afterwards? These are reasonable questions, and answering them helps both of us understand the arrangement.

We have a guide to comparing brake replacement quotes if that is the job you are planning. The wider principle is the same for every visit: agree the work, understand the price and know what the next conversation will cover if something else needs attention.

That applies after the visit too. Keep the invoice, and ask about any information you need to understand the work recorded on it. If you notice a concern afterwards, contact us with the details of the job and what you have seen or heard. Clear information makes it easier to talk through what should happen next.

Maintenance that fits your car

People often use the word “service” to describe several different jobs. An oil and filter change is useful maintenance, but your manufacturer may also specify other work at particular dates or mileages. Keeping track of those requirements helps you choose the work your car actually needs.

We offer the maintenance jobs described here alongside vehicle diagnostics. Full, interim and major service packages and MOT testing are not offered here. Our guide to oil changes and service packages explains the difference so you can make a clear booking.

Keep the record of completed work with your vehicle information. It helps you remember what was done and plan what comes next. Our guide to regular car maintenance also explains why small jobs and the wider schedule both deserve attention. The aim is to fit your visit into a sensible plan for the car.

Our home in Gosport

You will find us at Unit 31, Gosport Basepoint Centre, Aerodrome Road, Gosport, PO13 0FQ. All workshop visits are to this Gosport address. Our contact page has a map and directions to Basepoint to help you plan the journey.

We are open 7am–7pm, seven days a week. Those hours give you a choice of times to ask about, including at weekends. Call to agree the slot, drop-off and collection arrangements that fit the actual job.

We also welcome drivers travelling from Portsmouth, Fareham and Portchester. If you are coming from outside Gosport, think about what you will do while the car is with us and how you will get back for collection. A conversation beforehand helps you plan the visit around work, family commitments or a separate onward journey.

Useful information before your visit

Our advice centre gives you somewhere to read about maintenance, symptoms and the questions worth asking. We want the website to help you feel better prepared, whether you are checking what a job involves or trying to understand an unfamiliar term on a report.

You might want to check what to bring for a visit, understand the difference between an oil change and a service package, or find out which details help with a battery enquiry. Having somewhere to look can make the first conversation easier. Where a guide uses manufacturer or official guidance, it links to that information. Your handbook remains the starting point for the particular car. If a guide raises a question about your own car, make a note of it and ask us when you call.

Reading a page cannot inspect your car or establish whether an unexplained problem is safe to drive with. Use the information to prepare your questions, and tell us about the actual vehicle when arranging work.

Talk to us about what your car needs

We started Fast Car Service to make smaller vehicle jobs easier to arrange and, where availability allows, quicker to get done. That remains the idea behind the workshop: a clear conversation, suitable work and a visit planned around the job and your day.

If you need maintenance or want to ask about diagnostics, give us a call. Tell us your registration, what has happened and when you would like to come in. We will work from there with you.
